This was a long-ish exposure in the dark. I used a flashlight to "paint" each ice cube/puddle in turn. I'm not completely happy with the result, but this was the best of the bunch.

Wow. I certainly didn't expect to do this well! Thankyou very much!

returning for comments;
A very nice and well presented concept with nothing to detract. Bumping up to 7 for creativity.

Nice idea - works for me but I think the noise? lets it down a bit. It would have been nice to see crisp clear contrasts between the water and the table

Great idea but the ice is too dark

I like the thought. I like the set up. I like the lighting and color. I am wondering how that fully melted ice cube has less water than the ice cube that is only beginning to melt. 7

The most appealing of many ice-melting shots.

Nicely executed. The white on black works well and the progression is great for portraying time. 9.

hahaha.. Remind me after the challenge is over and I'll show you the version I did of a shot like this (your's is way better). Good job with the lighting.. and the composition is fantastic.

I really enjoy the idea of this photo. While not the only ice melting picture, I felt this was very well photographed. The lighting is great, nice and calm feeling. The only thing is that the puddle should be growing towards the right. That doesn't affect the score though because it would look funny without this nice balance. 8.
