I had a lot fo fun with this, hope it at least gets in the top 50%

Multi exposure mode

Semi-circle of black paper on the end of rotating polarising lens.

Swirled beer in the glass for "just drunk" look. (it was easier to photograph it empty then full so the glass didn't need moving between shots)

Took picture of half of the glass with no beer in it, rotated lens, filled glass and took pic of other side of glass.

Post processing:

Resized,
cropped,
slight dodging and burning to make shadows a little darker and to remove the darkened area produced where the two images merged.
Brightness adjustment.
Neat imaged to remove excess noise.

Congratulations on your 18th placing. I do appreciate this image, but it fools a lot of voters. Keep these cool effects coming.

A great image which makes the less experience wonder! 7

This is a great shot--I think I know how you did but look forward to reading your comments after the competition

Can't wait to hear how this was done! Very fascinating. 10

Nicely executed trick - though I'm not certain about your light: seems quie heavy - the reflections so very bright, but the subjects seeming a touch indistinct. Pity you couldn't have got the glass more precisely half and half - I think these kinds of trick work really do need care in such areas.

Very cool idea for this theme and a good job of execution. Really nice shot.

Very cool photo. Love the concept and I must say âI have never drank half my glass quite that wayâ. Great shot.

Nicely done and original. 8.

ok i'm stumped howdya do it? meetes the challenge, very interesting. good lighting and color. High difficulty (im guessing). Best of show so far..

9 for the extra difficultness in this double exposure. IMO same technique as "split bout...the inner struggle" from graphicphunk.... oh maybe its you....
11/23/2004 09:33:49 PM
Like a magic trick, I'm trying to figure out the secret. Well done.
11/23/2004 09:40:22 AM
very well done ... must have been quite challenging to put the glass back into the same exact spot after downing the pint
11/22/2004 10:32:40 PM
Assuming this didn't violate the rules, I think it would have been equally effective if the glass was just plain empty with some foam at the bottom IMO.

I bet you get a request for proof on this one. Its different and it appeals to me. good effort. (I prefer Guinness myself!) :-p

great shot!

fits the challenge perfactly.

Can't really tell how this goes with 'time passing'.
Nice pic but i just don't get it.

The harsh shadows make a very clever idea look a little amateurish. Having taken photos of beer myself, though, I know how finicky it can be. Great work.
11/21/2004 07:34:06 PM
Intersting photo. Love the half empty effect. Is it two mixed photos? Not a big fan of the beer can in the back, just looks like trash laying about. 7.

Curious to see how this was done legally...
