| Your title certainly nails it. Looking at it, and going beyond the dark bird spreading its wings, reveals nuanced cues -- the advancing foreground shadows and the innocently serene resting gulls; the water edging in from the right; the search for an ambiguous horizon, which hides among clouds that turn out to be land forms. Beautiful and cunning, a stellar scene. |
