Challenge: Diptych - same scene, different focal lengths (Standard Editing*)
Camera: Huawei P20 Pro
Location: Salen old pier, Isle of Mull
Date: Sep 15, 2018
Date Uploaded: Sep 15, 2018

This was a fun challenge for me and it helped me appreciate focal lengths. I did get frustrated focussing on one post only to see the action on another :(

Hey, if you look closely you can even see my house!

Top shot was a jpeg from my Huawei P20 Pro, 1/1000sec at f1.8, 50 ISO and a fl of 3.9mm.

Bottom shot was my 5Dmkii/300mm Sigma with 2x converter and 1/500 at f5.6, 320 ISO and a fl of 600mm

Looks like the birds won! Excellent representation of the challenge, and I can see why it did well.

Just put this comment on jomari's 1st place win: "Every time I look at this and Ecce_Signum's 2nd place I like the idea of this challenge more. I absolutely know I will be adding this kind of diptych to my repertoire.

This is soooo good. I could just parrot a few others' comments:
"I especially appreciate the sense of discovery, of what's happening out on those pilings." streetpigeon
"I think that either picture would be capable of winning a challenge. I just love the lower shot!" jomari

Wonderful work, definitely up to the task in my book. Congratulations on the ribbon.

Hey man, you live in the beautiful Isle of Mull?!

Very good take on the challenge, congrats (even if it cost me a ribbon ^_^)

Congratulations on the red for this handsome diptych. I especially appreciate the sense of discovery, of what's happening out on those pilings.

Two beautiful pictures, a beautiful diptych. I think that either picture would be capable of winning a challenge. I just love the lower shot!
This came up first in voting for me and it has certainly stood up to everything that came later. I've bumped it up a couple of times and now it is a 10.

At a quick run-through of all entries last night this one caught my eye. Gave it a "higher" score and will doubtless be back for a bump or two. Really very effective, imo.
