so suggestive. what era, we wonder. are these servant costumes/ asylum garb? we don't know, but here is a kind of reverence for cloth in service to costume. |

The low contrast aspect of the processing really allows the abstraction of these varying pleats and textures to creep up on you - I mean that in a good way! The wider horizontal strip on the right echoes and acts as continuation of the narrower one on the left, with the horizontal strips on the cuff acting as a bridge. "Wears well" with every extra look. I can imagine this as a subtle charcoal sketch. If this were my image, I may have tended toward a harsher overall contrast in the processing, and I think that would have been a mistake. |

Abstract art done in fabric. Very cool. Because it's photo-realistic, as abstraction it's taking a new path. About the central vertical strip that overlays it all, I can't decide, subjectively speaking, of course, whether it's bold or distracting. I think I'm behind the artistic curve on this one. The subtle variety of tones and textures is very satisfying. |
