A stunning image which easily begins to walk the mind back inro the low tech realm. Congratulations on your 6th placing. At least top 10 is a consolation. Keep batting away and I look forward to more of your images.

Very nice. If I had to say I'd guess you had a winner here. However, the bad news is that I rarely pick the winner as my favorite.

Nice effect with the boat gradienting off into the fog like that.

If only you'd have cropped it on the bottom above the waterline, you'd have had me convinced!

Conditions like mist are great to photograph historical subjects without the modern stuff like 20th century buildings, cars and IJ-tunnels in the background. It is one of the things that bugs me the most when I visit historical sites, always those damn cars and mopeds. :(
A bit unortunate that they had those non-sailing-related-sails on the side of the ship, I guess they were painting. I am already looking forward to SAIL Amsterdam 2005 btw.

Anyway, about the photo:
I like the portrayal here, with the emphasize on the interesting rear section and the classic curved line towards the front, somewhat disappearing into the mist. Colors are pretty good as well as the exposure. Stuff like that can be pretty hard in the flat mist light.
The horizon on the left looks a bit unnatural (cloning, gaussian blur?), but it is not that distracting.

Nice work.

This is truly a "WOW" shot and I hope it wins something. Meets the challenge spot on. Composition is excellent - subject has visual interest and it's pretty perfect technically. (10)

Something about this shot is surreal. The fog adds a real mystique. Good luck.

Very strong composition. Love the "ghost" effect. Good luck with this top contender.

Gorgeous. The soft focus blends well with the sea mist.

Beautiful scene. Can't decide if this is a model or the real thing. My only coment is that the colors could be more intense. Love the foggy effect. Couple of questions if I may: Where was this taken and why the canvas over the gun ports.

Great Photo. The fog or a shallow dof is hurting the front of the ship. 7
