Challenge: Serpentine (DPL4 WK3) (Standard Editing)

I struggled to find time all week long to go looking for serpentine shapes. My first choice was always going to be a road. Even went camping in the Colorado mountains and had plenty of roads with possibilities, but was not able to get the right perspective for one reason or another. So we arrived home on Sunday afternoon, unloaded the trailer, cleaned it, and since it was raining and had been raining all afternoon, I thought my chances were gone. So, we ate dinner, still raining. I had a backup location, but didn't want to stand out in the rain. But then I looked to the south from my house and saw some clearing clouds. Told my wife to be, I had to give it a try otherwise my teammates would divorce me. So I drove the 15 minutes to get where I knew I had a good perspective and started taking some pics. Nothing too good to begin with. All the clouds had already disipated. Then all of a sudden another bank of clouds came drifting down the canyon. I was taking long exposure shots to catch the headlights and tail lights on the cars, but it wasn't quite dark enough yet. So I just stayed in one spot and kept taking long exposures. I knew I had at least one good image to enter. What I didn't know was that I captured the clouds rolling over the mountain tops! I was amazed my that since I wasn't seeing that in real time. Everything was wet, the bushes were wet and I got soaked all the way up to my keester. But it was well worth it. Was so happy to get that shot. But then I still had to drive home, upload them, pick one to process and then process it. So I had 40 minutes to to all that. I managed to pick a shot, and in record time, get it processed and entered with 2 minutes to spare. I am too old for that much stress!

Love the subject and light. Could be stronger with a crop eliminating some of the nondescript, darkened landscape. Voting a 7 but could have been much higher.

Good POV helps this image. Very well done.I wish the light trail of vechile would have been a little more pronounced. The lighting is very done , and time of day was well timed.

Voted earlier coming back to comment.

My eye travels along the curves and bends in the road following it down to discover the spectacular clouds blanketing the valley below and rolling over the hills! Wonderfully presented scenery that perfectly captures the sinuous nature of this curving road in the gorgeous countryside!
