Two things work really well for this photo. Point of View and the great texture at the base of the tree. I'm glad to see you cropped the picture because I'm sure the composition presented here is better because it allows viewers to finish the image of the tree. This shot is very over used, but it is probably one of the better ones I've seen. Good Job, John Gill. Ps. I understand the problems with the weather, I waited 3 days to get the kind of lighting I wanted and finally gave up. But it does make a difference. |

Very nice. Great composition, and I feel like I see this tree in all its glory (some others in this challenge are a little too busy). The sky just seems a little overwhelming though. I think it's a tad overexposed, so some of the twigs are disappearing. It supports the sense that this tree is barren, but it also makes the image a little glary and difficult to look at. |

Good depth. A little more contrast would have helped - maybe convert to B&W. |

The small details in the tree seem a bit blown out. Nice shot otherwise. |

excellent texture detail. sky is washed out, but I think it works here, and adds to the harshness and contrast of the photo.. the weathered look came from a harsh world. The composition is good and meets the challenge. |
