Thanks for your votes, everyone. I agree this is old, and I consider this low tech in the sense that the pocketwatch is nowadays superceded by the wristwatch, and the mechanical movement used in this watch, the lever escapement, has long since been superceded by the quartz and more recently the atomic movement.
To those who believe this to be high tech...I can certainly understand your point of view. The basic concepts behind the workings of mechanical movements have not changed much since the introduction of the lever escapement. It's used to this very day.
I was simply trying to portray the fact that pocketwatches are considered 'quaint' and the mechanical movement has been trumped by both quartz and atomic timepieces for accuracy in timekeeping. |

Look at this image carefully and ask yourself in what low tech plants were such high tolerences met. Look at the delicasy and the marvel of inserting jewels with measurements that boggle the mind. Old yes, but very far from low tech. However, it is a good capture and I do not want you to go away mad. lol 6 returning for a bump. 7 |

Good subject for the challenge. Well composed and focused. I am generally not a fan of borders but this one seems to work. Among my top picks. |
