Greetings from the Critique Club.
The challenge was a free study, so easy-peasy ... anything goes. Perfect. I agree with comments; there's an air of mystery and the noisy, loose focus add to that theme. I love the silhouette of the tree against the sky. The lights on the horizon are both a distraction (in that they are pretty intense and draw the eye) and a guidepost (helps the viewer see where water/land meets shy). The textures add depth and drama. I would love to have seen more differentiation between the water and sky textures. They do tend to blend, which makes the lights on the horizon helpful. The stick to the right of the tree is a bit odd. I might have edited it out. I particularly like the bright star that almost looks like an ornament on the tree. Overall very calm and captivating. |

Wonderfully cinematic - snowflakes and diamond dust over a land of misery
9 only for the title took the mystery away |
