I did the same thing with my hands when I got there... I was unable to get any pictures though, too many names of friends...

I liked this shot when you first showed it to me. My only 10 of the challenge. Perfect DOF, nice sharp focus, and black and white was the perfect choice for the shot. This just proves that you and I need to go shooting more often. ;) Nice job pal!

This is an image that I sat and looked at for a long time.....it's very powerful. To me the hands emphasised the fact that it's not just a list of names .....those were people who's lives were lost, families changed forever, it made me remember. Congrats on a very well deserved blue!!

I just love this. A number of people used these walls full of names but the key element here was getting a human being back into it. And better still to capture an appropriate aged hand in the act of touching the wall. It's that idea that elevates this shot abocve the others. Well done and well deserved.

This brings back incredible feelings. I got to see the wall once. I imediately burst into tears. I have never seen an object so simple in form hold so much emotion. I didn't have time to vote on this challenge, but if I had, this may have been the only ten I've ever (woulda) given out. I'm trying to hold back the tears now as I look at this. Kudos.

Very nice! I love how the hand meets its reflection, as if in prayer -- or perhaps the wall touching the hand to offer comfort.

11/19/2004 07:11:47 PM
I like this and the use of the reflection. However, to mee the other hands are distracting --it's hard to tell how many are here. And the hand isnt in sharp focus except in the reflection--more DOF is needed IMHO.

Wonderful, my choice for the best in this challenge, simple yet a verry well told story, excellent depth and dramatism. Just great!

11/15/2004 01:03:11 PM
beautiful - the reflection gives the illusion of hands in prayer. I like the other hands too - the viewer can see the connections between the living and the connections with those gone. Wish it were just a bit sharper. 9

This is a very powerful photograph full of emotion. It meets the challenge with no doubt. I think titles can add to a photo as well as take away, your title ADDED to the photo. As far as the picture I think your lighting is good with good use shadows. Focus right on and the use of B&W works well ΓΆ€“ wow you can feel the emotion. Great job 10.
