Greetings from the Critique Club...
COMPOSITION... You definitely fit this week's theme, and it was a good idea to hide someone in the underexposed portions of a landscape, which can lead to dramatic silhouettes, but I think the composition can be improved a bit. The branches make the scene a little too cluttered - I just can't focus on any element for too long without being too distracted by branches going in every direction. A little too much shadow also, maybe if the sky and horizon spanned the length of the photo. I do like the dramatic clouds and sunset. I think it would be pretty nice to see a little more of the silhouetted person so that they stand out more (but still hidden enough for the challenge) and to also give a strong main subject for the photo.
TECHNIQUE... Excellent capture of the sunset. In this case you were going for very strong shadows and exposed the scene accordingly. Otherwise the shot is well defined and focus, nice colors overall...
OVERALL.. Landscape shots are sometimes not easy to find. try looking for areas with a lot less elements, some sort of foreground with objects arranged in a kind of pattern, or a minimal set of objects that are just composed in front of a beautiful sunset/sundown

Beautiful sunrise or sunset as is. A little lighter and might have been able to find Waldo. As is can\'t see much of anything. For an other challenge would be a 10. For Waldo, no hope of even being able to spot him if I knew where he was. I see the silioutte and am upping the score by 2 more points. |

Good one, merging Waldo into the shadows, it almost seems he is part of the tree, only the roundness of his head gives him away. Choice! |

The silhouetted waldo was a bit hard to find, but it's there. The sunset isn't very dramatic, but the tree silhouettes are nice. 7 Swash |

Nice photo. The sunset is very nice and the clouds also add interest to the photo. The bottom and left side of the photo seem to be a little disturbing to me because it is totally black and it doesn't do much for the picuture as a whole. And what am I supposed to be looking for?? |
