Invitational Challenge Level: Experienced
Challenge link: strong.
Image critique: the silence is tangible. A visually cleansing, non-literal approach which delivers an ordinary scene made special.
Out-of-challenge appeal: total - will revisit for sure.

I love shooting fog shots...but this is one of the best...the silence and lonliness really comes through with the birds in the foreground. |

Very lovely image. The twin trees balance the photo nicely. I like the inclusion of the four birds, too. |

This is beautiful! My eyes are curious to see a little below the pathway in exchange for a little cropping of the empty gray space up top -- but that's minutae. This photo is captivating! |

Gotta love foggy tree shots. Personally I would have cropped a chunk off the top, and probably cloned the gulls(?) out. Seems to be suffering from some fairly heavy jpeg banding too :( |

You captured a very nice mood. I can smell the morning dew from here haha. I think this is one of the stronger entries and imagine it will do very well. |

returning for comments:
A very nice and serene understatement with soothing tones that enthrall the senses. Impressionistic in its subdued manner but lacking the punch of color. More like the moon that entices rather then the boldness of the sun. This is not to degrade its pleasant effect. This image has more subtle beauty than those that abound in color. In short, no points deducted while I must admit that I would have liked more color. bumping up

The birds give balance to the photo... They bring in life and dabs of white.. Nice work. |

I like the effect of the fog, but the gulls seem too real. Perhaps less DOF would have pushed this up a bit more. |

I think I would have preferred this as a black and white image. the strip of color in the grass distracts from an otherwise very nice tonal study. I like the birds in the foreground |

I really don't see the Impressionism resemblance here.
This is a very nice photograph of a foggy morning, but it
is clear in detail, which is not really Impressionistic in style.
Well composed photograph though! ((5)) |

You have an extremly strong entry - the fog is magical! It's not that "painterly" when compared to some others - but it is more "camera realistic" than most. The road? in the bottom bothers me a bit as it isn't needed to make your statement. Finally - a small point - I'd like to remove the seagull on the left - leaving just a triangle of three of them. |

Nice capture...
I like that you took it with birds. It adds good detail... just i dont like them beeing at very bottom of picture... would give more space at bottom to make accent on them. |

The birds and road are a bit of a distraction. |

I think that I would have cropped the birds out. The rest is very impressive. Nice use of negative space. |

This picture has alot of potential. I like this type of picture. I find the pigeons to be a little distracting. I think I would have liked it better if you cropped the picture above the birds. I like the contrast between the one tree that is almost fully with leaves and the other tree which is almost leafless. It makes me wonder why. |

I am only commenting and using a place holder score during this pass.
Nature is the most woundrous soft focus filter. It's not the lack of contrast in this picture that throws if off, it's more the dull colors but it does look as if the saturation was increased. Well. All I can say is you picked out a good scene but maybe the weather wasn't as cooperative as it could have been. |

Smooth, moody composition which appeals to me and a big plus for no visible post processing. Beautiful work, congrats. |

i like the basic idea, but feel the composition is missing something. maybe the birds are too close to the bottom, maybe there is a little too much or too little space at the top? i'm not sure, but something is just not engaging me here. |

Not a fan of the pigeons, which takes away from the composition IMO. I wonder if it would look better with some of the top negative space cropped out. Nice muted colours. 6 |
