 This is an older image that I captured while boating on the upper mississippi river. The camera was a Nikon Coolpix 990, so the original file has a little noise, even at ISO100. When I saw the image again I decided I would try to see if it would work in black and white. The photo was taken from a kayak on a very still morning just as the fog was starting to burn off. I chose a centered composition and left a fair amount of space around the boats in order to leave the floating in the center of the lake and fog.

Wow! I really like this. Great choice to leave all the empty space around the boats. Works really well in black and white, too.

This is a great image. I know it's on the Mississippi in Red Wing but it looks like the St. Croix where I grew up boating. Love the photo, adding it to my favorites!
