Have fun with this and do some sepia and graining technique. (sorry, I have way too much time on my hands with Adobe.) ha ha ha
Really nice capture. Vantage point is nice - not just a straight on shot. |

Worth a thousand words. I think it would have been so much more effective had you taken it more from the catcher up, but all the same a good angle. Maybe you tried too hard for the challege and let composition slip a little. |

Nice idea, but not a particularly interesting angle. |

I like the bit of ground that you got. Gives a really "ground up" feel though I feel the perspective is more horizontal than vertical. Did you try a shot that was closer to the train? |

There are some stories this engine could tell - brilliant photo! |

interesting shot, I wish the sky wasn't washed out though. |

Good subject. I'm fond of old rusty things :-) The white sky isn't doing you any favors..more direct light on a less cloudy day might make it 'pop' a little more. |

At another time of day, when you could balance the exposure of the engine against the sky, this would be very good. If I had to shoot in this kind of overcast, I'd get even closer in and try to include as little of the sky as possible (optimally none). |

well done photo and i like the idea of a train, but the rust and paint coming off doesn't do anything for me I wonder if b&W would have been better? |

Wow! I can feel the power this engine once produced. It's almost like the retired warrior. Lots of emotion evoked with this shot for me. Extremely sharp. If you did post processing, you were very judicious. If no post processing was done, it's even more impressive. Excellent work. Irated this high. Gave it a 9. |

I know just how it feels!! My Dad was a railroad man; brings back memories! Wonderful photographic study. |

The angle this picture was shot at gives it a sense of movement which works very nicely in contrast to the fact it has obviously been a long time since this beast went anywhere. Ahh but in it's day... I wish the sky had some color in it. Did you try converting to black and white? |

Choo Choo! Now that is an old train. Great picture. I like how I can see the details.

this is a great subject, but I feel like there may have been another angle that could have captured the essence of the train better ... it's hard to tell not being there. Maybe using some DOF to get the viewer to concentrate on a particular part of the train whilst still showing what the object is. |

Great composition, although the sky sort of bleeds over into the train. I think shooting at a different time of day and/or maybe a slightly quicker exposure or greater aperature would darken it and make it not seem to over-exposed at the top.
Otherwise, I really do like it. |

This really is an ancient train. Good angle. It is still facing upwards even though you have it at a slight angle. This is a great picture. |

I really enjoy this pic...it appeals to the amateur historian in me. I also like the subtle colors and prospective of this photo. The subject choice is very well done! |

Holy cow! I love this picture. I love it to death! Rich green grass, a beautiful train dressed up in rust and moss... definitely one of the top photos this week, even if you're probably going to get knocked by others for not having a neck-craning angle of UP. Too bad you couldn't have gotten more color into the sky (i.e. taken the picture on a day where there was a worthwhile sky). That definitely would have added a point to the score. |

I wish i had an opportunity to spend a few hours with this old man and my camera... I love your subject! I think this is a *perfect* candidate for black and white or sepia tones. Both modes seem to help convey antiquity. I don' t know how the contrast would be on the train but it would be worth seeing! Excellent photo! |

I really like train pics (my last one was one, didn't do as well as I'm sure yours is going to do though). Cropping is a bit tight, but other than that this is a nice shot |

would work well as a black & white shot - bring out the rust textures |

I like this picture alot. The old train has a lot of personality to it, and the perspective works really well with this shot. |
