Greetings from the Critique Club
By Inspzil

My comments pretty much summed up what I thought, so this isn't going to be a lot different than that, just warning you... :)

Composition - Awesome photo. You picked the right time to take it. I love the silhouettes. The construction equipment is a bit distracting. The crop could've been a little tighter to elimate some of the stuff on the left side and a little of the emptier sky. It also would bring us a trifle closer to lady liberty and the seagull. Sky is wonderfully lit with a few clouds to give it some character. It may have been difficult to crop more just due to the photo already being cropped quite a bit. Great Capture

Technical - Looks very well taken. Colors are nice and warm. Great exposure. I'd be trying to PS all the equipment out of it and make a pic for myself.

Overall - A very serene pic. I like this shot a lot. Hopefully you can get more opportunities to take this shot again when they get all that crap out of the frame. Maybe you could ask them to move it for a day or two? Yea, sure. Anyway, great shot. Look forward to seeing more of this cliche stuff from you. - Inspzil

Would be a nice photo if it wasn't for the construction equipment in the background.

Even though sunsets are traditionally landscape, I think this shot would be stronger if cropped almost in half to a portrait view. The statue is such a strong vertical element (and strong cliche) that I think it should be emphasized. I think the bird would be OK if the stature wern't there and it was justa harbor sunset, but here I think it's more of a distraction.

awesome. I love how layers of clouds and teh warm tones add for a dramatic effect. The bird flying also adds a nice touch.

Great silhouette of Lady Liberty, but all the extra stuff in the pic is not so picturesque. Reminds me too much of work!! Seriously this would be great without the other stuff. Poster material to me. I like the bird too. Great color - Inspzil

It's a cliche, but it's a nice one. The colour of the sky makes this shot. Good luck.

beautiful skye and cool silhouettes!

Awesome picture... if those cranes in the background weren't there it would be even better. 8.

I like the bird! The statue is a little too close to the bottom of the shot. I'd prefer a little more water. Might also try changing the black point to make a stronger silhouette. 7

This is an excellent sky and an excellent image of the Statue of Liberty. It's really too bad that all the ironworks in the background and, unfortunately, the bird, too, draw the eye away from the power point of this image. Nice choice of timing for the sky and good exposure.

Lovely capture, the mood, the bird.. my only gripe is that you're not facing the lady from the front :) 9 -Annida

What are those cranes doing there? Where is the sun? A brown coloured filter would do the trick even in broad daylight. Was this actually taken during sunset?

Absolutely awesome. Is all that in the background work at ground zero? I love this photo, especially at this time in history. Ride the emotion. The color of the sky just adds to this. Very artistic. Love it.

My top rated sunset this week! It may help that I am from NY, but even for other viewers, I think the statue of liberty and what it represents is a lot more powerful a silhoutee than pom trees, houses, and bushes. I like that you got the bird in the photo as well and the cranes or whatever in the background give it a very interesting feel. They make me think of strange mechanic giraffes and make me question the meaning of beauty and liberty in our great country. I might have cropped out the upper parts of the sky and the water on the bottom to get rid of the lightest whites as well as give it a nice widescreen look. Excellent job, 9.

I like how you have the statue in shadow. The orange sky really brings this image to life good job.

Nice image, very well composed. Funny thing is I live on the other side of it, right by the docks.
