I was running short on ideas, tried the fall leaf option that I'm sure many will use, and then I saw my tassle. Heck, why not. So, with just my desk lamp, computer screen, and really crappy overhead light, I tried to get a shot. I then went back later and reshot several times, adding another desk lamp to the mix.
I love my camera's Macro settings and I played with it until I got the focus on the 04 with at least the 4 in focus and had the top of the tassle framing the image on top.
I really am a proud member of the high school Class of 2004. Although, this isn't the tassle I actually wore in the graduation ceremony, but this was the one that most of my class did have. I had a special one.
Editing: Rotate, Crop, Roated CCW 4, Crop, Resize, USM. |

would have been nicer to see the whole 2004 in focus, but a nice macro none the less. |

I don't like the use of shallow DOF here but it is very well composed. |

Your lighting looks good and your composition. I think I would have preferred to see the whole 2004 in focus instead of the short DOF. I can see you put some effort into this shot. I gave you a 5. Good luck |

A wider DoF so the whole of the 2004 is in focus would improve this shot quite a lot I think. |

Good photograph. Personally, I dont quite like photgraphs with a shallow DOF but with a distracting background.. but that's just me. 6

I like shallow dof myself at the right time and place. However, when the main subject is in focus on one end and blurred to oblivion on the other, it does not look right, in my opinion. |

Nice colors and good concept. Unfortunately not enough of your shot is in focus |

Normally I love shallow DOF but in this case it doesn´t work to your benefit, the letter "2" is almost unrecognizable. Good effort though but only average compared to the best shots in this challenge. Keep it up. |

Since the title is 2004, I think the whole number should be in focus. |
