Self-portrait. One side of my face/head with spa mask and eye treatment. Other side, makeup and fixed hair. Cropped, slight curves. Each side of face cut and pasted into a new mat/padding (black), to create the line down the middle, and then result printed out on matte finish paper. Print out used as a prop with other spa accessories, and photographed again. I like how it is sorta like an advertisment. I had fun. This is my first ever self portrait! I will have to do another that makes me look good in the future!

I think you have a very good concept with this photo. The before/after concept is readily visible. I think your lighting for this shot is also just about perfect. There is only one item that *I* would change in this particular shot that I believe could create some added impact... I believe that if your 'loofa' (is that spelt rite?) was a darker color, it would create a little stronger contrast in the image, but then again, it could also distract the viewer from the before/after portrait, so maybe not... just a thought...
Since this is a still life image, I believe that you could have possibly made the towel sharper with a little larger DOF. The front-facing part of the towel is a little fuzzy, but not a big issue at all. It's not the subject of the photo.
The part of the 'after' face where the loofa is protruding into the image is also creating a 'contrast' that is eye catching. I'm not sure if that's a good thing in this photo or not.

Gawd... the time we women are encouraged to spend rubbing goo into our skin because "we're worth it".... I think I'm worth a yacht cruise myself :P.
The composition of this is great, and that image in the background is striking. It doesn't appeal to me though. It feels like something from a women's magazine, and I react against that kind of self-esteem manipulating, fraudulent cosmetics-selling drivel. I blame my mother for raising me as a feminist :P.

The colors are too bland. The towel should of been turned a bit to the show the side (and in a color), the Ponds jar is also such a light neutral color that it\'s about lost. Still in all, I very much admire you thinking here, this is NOT a bad piece of work. Keep shootin!
challenge met. what a wonderful idea! and the execution is good, too. for a change, glare on the skin adds something to the photo :) i like how you have added some of the other "ingredients" to the right, they really complete the picture. the only nitpick i have with it is that the thing on top overlays the dark reflection of the hair in the mirror and is a bit distracting. but that's only nitpicky. the ponds over the mirror works well. :)
