This is a gorge in the Bavarian Alps near Garmisch-Patenkirchen - very popular with hikers in summer. But I think it is even more interesting in winter when there are head-high icicles. I went there with a friend who lives in Japan and made a trip to Bavaria around Christmas.
Light is an issue at the gorge- there isn't plenty of it, the ice would easily take more light to reveal their beauty

The description sounds like it's Partnach Klamm. I've only been there in Summer, but this shot tells me it's worth a trip in winter as well. I like the shot and the soft flow of water.
