Sigma 105mm 2.8 Macro that I have sold now. My wife is the "model".

Used two flashes to light this, one on a tripod with an umbrella (you can see the reflection in the eye) and another one on the camera. We went out on the balcony in sunlight just to get the iris to contract, it was too dark indoors. Took about 40 tries to get this shot, I liked this one the best out of the batch. I desaturated the shot with channel mixer, 80% red, 10% green and blue. I did a version I like better where I recoloured the eye extremely blue but in the basic rules this is not allowed so I will post it here after the voting in this challenge is over. I hardly think it will win, I would be very happy to be in the top 75%.

This is how I wanted to submit this shot.

Nicest looking eye shot I have seen so far. Good job and way to keep the detail nice and sharp.

Among the best of the close up eye's. Sharp, detailed. DOF could have been deepened some for greater effect.

I would like the focal plane moved toward me by half an inch. 6

Definately an extremem close up. I like the focus and clarity. very nice work there. DOF is perfect in my opinion. I think that the bottom 'rim' of the eye being very white though is distracting. I also wish I could see the tips of the eyelashes. Seems like the poiny-est part of the photo should be visible. Personal prefference though, some will definatley prefer it this way. Good job. ~Heather~
