Floating village in Cambodia -- leading into Tonlé Sap. Truly incredible. Check out the size during the dry season vs the wet season:

There even were some egrets along the edge!
The unfortunate thing about cambodia, is that the lenses/camera would fog up and stay fogged for a long time! Heat in the upper 90s, dew points in the 80s. Felt progressively more sick each day. Wasn't particularly eating by the day of the floating village. Still climbed out on to the bow of the boat for the first half of the ride! Rode out about an hour to the turn around point -- a floating crocodile farm/restaurant. I won't mention the curling up in the back of the boat for the ride back. It was hard to close my eyes for the second half, but progressive days of creeping heat exhaustion finally took it's toll. Luckily it was the last day of the trip. Then it was just lots and lots of plane rides.
What an incredible experience, though. Vietnam/Cambodia, because Jeff had a week long conference. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience. How often can you see water buffalo grazing on the side of the road? Or a lotus plantation? I even bought a custom fit, floor length, black velvet gown!
Now I need to know where I can wear a full length, black velvet gown. The only full length gown I've worn is a wedding gown (oh wait, and a piano concert I played in when I was in high school). So if you know of anywhere in the Virginia or DC area, let me know. :)
Thanks for the comments. :) |
