Challenge: Macro Without Bugs or Flowers (Basic Editing I)

 This was my first idea for a shot, but started thinking that I shouldn't enter it. I tried three other setups with different subjects and nothing turned out. So, I'm going to keep my original entry and just weather the storm of voting.

Shot with natural light on Macro setting and with magnifying glass against a black leather background. Converted to B&W, rotated, cropped, sharpened, added border.

Interesting patterns, but I think a different angle with some DoF would make the overall photo more interesting.

This is wonderfully in focus, but it's missing something for me. I guess it's just too flat - seeing them on the curves of a model would have been better, maybe?
