Normally I don't like black backgrounds in insect macro images, but in this case I like the way it really isolates the details of this amazing looking Chinese Mantid (Tenodera aridifolia).

This is an excellent macro shot! Anyone who thinks you should have used a tripod clearly doesn't take macro shots.. it's called depth of field.. and you have captured it!

just a little bit blurry... a tripod and more DoF would help (turn up the fstop)

Actually, this is Tenodera aridifolia sinensis. The red mandible structure gives it away.
