It had been a long time since I'd done a squirrel shot, so I figured it was about time to try again.
I started the day before the last day, which really wasn't enough time. I wanted to get him holding on to the pencil with both paws -- facing me. But it took most of the day on Sunday to get him to come around to it.
And then it started to rain.
We had a bird feeder holder that could swing out over the deck, but that's nowhere to be found. Which doesn't make any sense... Because none of us moved it. And I don't think the squirrels would have taken it, because the bird feeder wasn't attached!
So my son and husband rigged up a stick, stuck in the umbrella holder of a table. I put wood leaves from the kitchen table out on the deck table. My daughter drew the squirrel self portrait (he was supposed to be on the other side, so you could see it better!), and I used a transparent thread to hang the pencil from the stick.
He tried running off with the pencil! But luckily it was attached by the thread. Of course, I was too busy watching and yelling "he's stealing the pencil!!" and forgot to take shots. THOSE would have been awesome!
So it's not what was hoped for, but it's a squirrel shot. This was probably about 7 hours of watching and waiting over two days. (while reading, cooking, and watching Full Metal Alchemist. :)
