This shot took around 400 takes, so I hope it does well! Made two batches of tinted water, one blue and one red, and hoped for purple when their paths crossed. In some cases they did produce purple, but I do like this royal blue.
Camera on tripod, flash up, white drop lit by two of my strobes. Had fun getting the timing and positioning just right, as I did all the pours manually. Counting down seconds is tough!!!
Also had to be out of the lens so was mostly reaching around and over the camera/flash in order to get the pours. A lot of purple water collected in the big stainless steel bowl I had for that purpose :-)
Ironically I actually do own a one-piece bathing suit in almost this exact shade - the one here in the shot is just missing the darker blue racing stripe down the side.
pp: Shot RAW, and literally Basic editing - rotate, crop, brightness/contrast, vibrance/saturation, resize, sharpen, save for web.
ETA: Andi, aka Ecce_Signum, suggested that I show the glasses from which the coloured water is pouring. Seeing that she knows a few things about water shoots, I took her advice. |

Gave this a 7, surprised it came in so low. Beautifully done. |

Greetings from the Critique Club, Susan!
Wow! What an image! I have NO idea why the score is so low. So... maybe I'm not the one to critique this for you.
I gave it a seven during voting.
I'm guessing that the other voters did not see the swim suit and the two heads/body in the pours. It's brilliant.
*sigh*
Including the vessels was good advice. It definitely gives more to the story.
I can't imagine how hard it is to do this. But, I'm sure it would have taken me more than it took you.
The colors are wonderful. The composition is perfect. The whites are white.
I just don't understand the score.
Silly voters.
