Not very interesting to look at, does nothing for me. Still as you like it and think it is interesting I would not worry what other people think of it, I gave that up years ago.

I think your image is interesting, but just not compelling enough to do very well here. Which is the star, the flower or the ring? IMNSHO they are competing for attention and honestly the stones set in the ring are mostly just a blown-out mess of white. And the shallow dof on the petals just leads the eye all over the place, never a good thing.
We can't see any detail of the stones, let alone the settings. I can see you're trying to be artsy with the shallow dof, but with such a badly rendered ring, it's just not doing any favours for you here. From my own experience, sometimes you have to take at least 200 shots to get a shot like this right, and be prepared to take 200 more. Right in that the ring is tack-sharp, we should be able to see what cut the diamonds are, and if you're really good, you can even get some of the individual facets to spark back at you.

For me, I gave it 5. I like the colors but my eye bounced around between the ring, 2 out of focus flower parts (are those 'stamen'?), and the in focus petal in the lower right. Rather than pull me into the image (to explore finer details) this subject competition caused me to loose interest quickly and move on to the next image..

Uninteresting image and the exposure is not that good.
The color is ok. |

I gave it a 4. I don't understand why you think it is artistic. To me it is a very awkward composition without a clear subject. If the ring is the subject the background is very distracting.
PS There is a lot of good advice in these comments from some of the best DPC photogs. |

This is a lovely shot of a flower. And that looks like a very pretty ring. |

Thank you for your comment! The part you found the most interesting was supposed to be blurred lol |

Yes it is a product but whos not to say that a product shot can't be artistic? I do appreciate your comment though. I do agree with the ring not being in sharp focus as I previously stated, however the rest of the photograph is very interesting, and I don't think cropping it tighter would have made this photograph better, and in fact would have taken away from it.
Thanks again for your comment. |

Jewelry in NOT easy to photograph well. It is small, reflective, and somewhat unforgiving. So your subject is tough to start IMHO.
The background and ring are equally banal when combined here. Neither is being explored and they don't relate to each other in a cohesive way. A more interesting composition or more detailed macro would add some interest. I gave it a 5 for the good lighting and color. |

The yellow looks like an eye and the white on the right looks like teeth making it kind of creepy. I like the ring on the purple but there is too much competing with it. |

I gave it a 4...I would have liked it more without the ring, and as Oliver mentioned the dust/pollen could have been cloned or healed out. To my eye, the comp is off. Had the ring been gone and the image rotated 90 degrees clockwise or counter clockwise, I probably would have given a much higher score...the colors are quite lovely. |
