This set took a while to build. Actually one full week to plan and build. There was no post exposure editing other than resizeing. If you look you will notice it is a card board box. There is nothing special about this shot. I used a 2x3 foot softbox as a key light to light the inside of the box. The image you see in the window is a low grade picture of a forest type background. That is being lite by an External Hot shue flash being fired into a shoot through umbrella triggered by the softbox through a peanut slave attached to the pc port of the external flash. Overall I think the balance of light in the background is perfect though the front light needs help.

(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) Oh this is a most humorous photograph, and the more I look at it the more I smile. I have read your details about how it was set up and I have to hand it to you, you did a great job. The shadow under the floating door is the icing on the cake, what surrealism!

(2) BACKGROUND The background is very realistic here. Your lighting was especially effective in making this appear to be a "real" window looking out onto a forest scene.

(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL Exposure is very well done. Your exposure keeps the whites very crisp without losing any of the detail in the rest of the scene. The deep DoF is perfect here.

I would have liked to see a little more light on the back wall, to make it as crisp and white as the floor. That would be my only suggestion for this entire photograph.

(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL Your post processing is very good. Saturation is good, cropping is perfect.

(5)MEETING THE CHALLENGE This photo does a very good job of meeting the challenge. This photograph brings to mind some of the famous surreal painters such as Salvador Dali. The fact that you have achieved this through photography is wonderful.

(6) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO The subject here is fantastic. The way you executed it is excellent. This is a photograph I can see hanging on the wall in my bar.

I am sorry that this critique does not give much advice to improving your photograph. I see this as near perfect and I do not know what you could do to make it any better.

Looks fake. Compositionally it doesn't seem to offer much unique or appealing either. 3

i love the contrast of colors and the shadows. it has a very surreal feeling to it. a little bit of an uneven edge around the right side and top of door, but not very distracting. well done!

I really like this photo. It's an interesting illusion, and really beautifully lit, composed and photographed.

Got to admit, this made me smile. I love your use of color, but think that the composition could have been a little more dynamic. I also think I would have been very tempted to crop out the wall on the left, giving the shot a more "wide-open space" feel.

Brain twister, I assume. Great creative shot. Will be curious to see how you did this with one photo!
