 This is one of my favorite hummingbird pictures that I have taken. Usually the males are very timid and will not sit for very long. For some reason, this year they have been more tolerant of me and in the early morning they have been settling on the branches of my butterfly bush to allow me to get closer to take pictures. Each morning I've been able to get closer and closer. This shot was as close as my 70-200 lens would let me get. The light was just perfect which allowed the color on his neck to be quite luminescent. I love the way the reflection from his neck shines on the bottom of his beak and makes it appear red.

Great capture! There is no doubt where my eyes go first in this image. Perhaps little less exposure in the tail could make the bird stand out even more from the background?
