Mom's 1.75 liter bottle of Absolut Vodka, from ca. one year ago.

We use it instead of the crummy plastic water pitcher, or actually the pretty glass one which I broke (sorry mom).

The lighting is from above, by means of a halogen lamp, and the bottle is also backlit by 4 heater candles. The setup is for dinner, not photography, I just saw it and liked it. I used automatic metering (like I had a choice), with a 1 stop underexposure via exposure compensation.

It's arguably too dark, but since to me the subject was the water, and not the bottle, I like it better this way. I have a "normally" exposed one, which I don't like as much.

No editing was made, except for a little bit of added brightness, due to a self-limiting-for-the-sake-of-education policy, overall satisfaction with the virginal result, and finally, lack of photoshop.

I'm taking too many shots like this recently, because I'm trying out my shiny new tripod. I'm a bit sad that the roll axis creeped a bit counter clock wise. It's a bit too hard to notice such changes on that LCD.

Update: I think this photo has tought me more about my LCD than anything else - it appears to be way too bright...

Hahaha, I didn't see that while voting. Bumping up a bit.

wasn't really any point of interest for me

Nice study in lighting and textures, but appears too dark and murky on my screen to really shine. The upper part in particular appears too under-exposed for my taste. Even in an intentionally dark image, I would expect to see more light given to this area.

I like the title, and golden color tones; however, it is out of focus, too dark, and not very interesting.

Cause I like this, I'll rate it 6 :-)

I think the composition here struggles for focus... not just camera focus, but a focus on what the eye should land on.
