Excellent portrait. Wonderful depth of field to give it a 3d feel. Great texture an detail in the face. Subject is full of character and that comes across clearly. Not so sure about the yellow flecks that seem to be in the image, mainly around his hat brim. Some catchlights in the eyes would have been nice too. |

Good character portrait. Why not turn the camera vertical though? |

Nicely done, it would have been nice to crop it a little closer and ask him to pose without his hat. |

Needs color, but a great portrait. A lot of age on that face. |

He has a wonderful face. I like the beard stubble :) I don't care for how his collar fades into the border and I would have prefered a little more space above his hat. Emotive.. makes me smile.. and want to listen to his stories of "how it was back in his time" :) |

That face tells stories and I bet the guy indeed has some stories to tell. Good portrait, good exposure and good toning. |

Very good B&W portrait... good details... like background aswell. Feels like its halfdesaturated. I think plain border would do better cuz BW is real classy shots. |

This is a fine portrait. It's just unfortunate that you missed getting a catchlight in the eyes. Catchlights add life and interest to the eyes in a portrait. |

I think either a little bit more or a little bit less depth of field would have helped here. The ears are just out of focus, but most of the face isn't. This creates a sort schizm, where the nose, mouth and eyes are in focus, but some of the hair, the rim of the hat, the cheek fuzz are. Those parts are more like the neck, suite and ears, not a part of the face, in my humble opinion. Thus the lack of focus on the ears seems like an error. If the ears were in focus, or only the core of the face was, then i think it would be more consistent.
Aside from that, I wonder if you used some sort of light reflection, or whether this is just plain sunlight. |
