 Curious to see what the guesses are for this. It is a raspberry shot on a piece of watermelon rind. I hadn't planned on shifting hues, but when I did I thought it looked like a virus so I had my title and decided to keep it.

A number of you guessed it correctly but props to [user]fngood83[/user] for not only guessing the object but also the lighting technique.

My favorite guess was by [user]flaherma[/user] who hoped it wasn't something we eat.

It is a raspberry sitting on a piece of watermelon rind. I but a small hole in the rind, placed the berry over the hole and place a flash underneath the rind.

Great shot, though it's kind of big and complex to be a virus. Now if you'd "stained" it purple it would look a lot like a colony of Gram-positive cocci, such as Staphylococcus aureus, which tends to look (microscopically) like "a cluster of grapes".

I couldn't sleep last night, among other things, was thinking about this shot and then it came to me that it was probably a raspberry - ha! Great shot, and yep, I do love raspberries, even now :) Congrats on the HM

Voted on most of the photos and come back to this one, this looks cartoonish, not even sure how you achieved this desired result very unusual and in your face, and my pic for the red or yellow. Great job overall on the colours and textures, bump.

a bit puzzled by this, but I think it's a light fixture, they have some fun ones out that look pretty funky, and if you left the back open a bit against a fun backdrop you could get a very interesting shot ;)
