What I love about this image is the human element in it...
I'd have composed to avoid the human and I would have totally missed the perfection you've achieved with yours.

Fantastic B&W tones and the love the interaction of the boy watching the seagulls. |

This is an outstanding shot, right down to the texture of the ground. I can't give ribbons, but this is a 10 from me.
Here is my blue ribbon for photos I can't give ribbons to:

Now I want to know Phil, is what did your sons photo look like? The composition and the lovely birds the rain on the footpath really add to this fine image, well done! |

Is he holding a camera / camera phone, or making a boxing gesture at the gulls? Either way it's a great shot. |

An elaborate symphony in three movements here: the freize of seagull action at the top; the boy and fence in the middle; and the pool of water and sand (or whatever) at the bottom. The boy is the focus of course - and the transition tying it all together. Nice work. voted earlier |

I have one minor nitpick with this beautiful photograph. The boys arms, holding camera, line up on the pole. If he would have taken one step forward the framing would have been perfect. That's the challenge of candid moments. This is still a brilliant monochrome. Well done! |

All the wonder of photography in one frame- the bright and dark, and sharp and fuzzed, the beautiful reflections, and candid look. |
