| My comment didn't get through -- sorry. Your title led my observations. Mostly I felt the absence of the family, the bustling about, the children playing on the rock. The fogginess frames the image in poignant loss. The building seems to lean to the left with bated breath, as if there is a tomorrow. |

| I like the brooding tone and I see why you have the big branch in the upper right to lead in the eye, but I think the structure is playing second fiddle to the foliage. More house being swallowed less trees doing the swallowing might have been stronger. those fleck of white trash in the foreground and in the tree are bothersome; pick them up, burn them down a bit or toss in more to make them a theme, all would have worked, but as they are they are distractions. |

| The angle chosen and the mist both serve to add to the abandoned feel of this. I almost want those wee bits of trash removed, though. |

Many titles in this challenge convey sadness; coupled with the neglect and decay in this image, I think it is the saddest.
Personally, I would have cloned out those distracting pieces of white trash on the ground. It is, nonetheless, an effective image with the chosen angle of the structure, the slightly elevated PoV, and the boarded windows - even the one that has fallen away.
Very appropriate submission for this challenge. |
