| I.... LOVE it! It's like there was a moment. As if something about your focus jarred the boy out of his immediate circumstance into yours. That and I love storm pictures. Excellent! |

some photos look back at you. There's something to be said for this. It's like a car that has to turn once in a while or it will never get back home.
This look, back at us, eradicates other things the photo might be, like a study of textures. All of that is twisted into a backward look. The artistic experience is one of confrontation. The boy owns this photo as much as the viewer does.
It's a matter of degree. What can you do to moderate that powerful look? You make it small. You keep it in the center but you make it small, and you twist it away from the direction of everything else in the photo. Now the photo is active and alive and not some dead portrait of a stranger.
I'm hanging this in my fantasy gallery

| Hard to think of a photograph that revolves so much around a relatively small point; the eyes of the boy. Maybe J-J Beguin's Eye Contact. The boy's gaze is a skewer, piercing right through the viewer. It's a remarkable shot. Thank you. |

I love the title, Paul would remember this wonderful movie.
