 Very excited to win a ribbon on this one! I love getting to know good photographers such as jjbeguin and I was taken by his passive eye. He's there in the middle of the action and no one has any idea it seems. Very rarely is it at all set up - it is life, often in motion. I also noticed a great deal of backlighting used effectively with high contrast which adds drama and a bit of distance from what we normally see in commercial / mainstream images.

As the snow is melting, it gets a little easier to get the camera out. I was loving the long shadows on this afternoon/evening - this is my daughters running on a nearby run-down tennis court. It is, in fact, not completely un-staged but mostly spontaneous as we were playing tag anyway. I actually thought I might get a lens flare on this one for the other challenge but no such luck ;)

I was inspired by images such as these: - I also noticed he has no problem with a little bit of motion blur in some photos so neither did I ;)

I have some outtakes but I might be using in the Free Study. =)

-- As I saw my score being unexpectedly high, it occurred to me: "my Dad mailed me this camera recently and I never even checked the date and time" - thankfully, although the time was several hours off, the date ended up being accurate / legit. Will validate this evening ... =)

Frozen as it were, and striking shadows. Perfectly full ranging tones give it real power only slightly diminished by the loose crop, Try giving up some of the right and left excess to compress the movement into the essentials. So nearly so great. It's a rare favorite for me for what it could be.

-1 for not considering the light gray background here. I'm sure on dark gray this looks great, but shadows are a 1/2 stop too heavy for the presentation here. 7
