The challenge said -Take us back to the "good ole golden rule" days! Photograph something that represents education.
With the war and Pres. Bush talking about how he prays etc, and basically being a God fearing man, and many other rulers for that matter, that coupled with on how they seem to justify the breaking of a commandment, Thou shalt not kill, is where the pic came to mind. I think many people in power aren’t necessarily idiots (see The Complete Idiots Guide to the Bible) but act like them non the same. I’m a fairly recent born again Christian. Just started taking pics a few weeks ago. Also just finished reading about exposure, etc. I’m thrilled I didn’t finish last. I’m a plumber hence my screen name is plumber711, those numbers mean something to me. I noticed that I received 11 votes of 7. My avg, vote was 4.070 ( 7 plus 4 equals 11). I’m writing a book, it may be the ramblings of a lunatic or it may â€Â¦.. I almost un-submitted this, but then again, what the hay. Thanks for ALL your comments, I really appreciate it. Also am very pleased to have come across this site and read all the comments said, good bad or indifferent about all the pics. I wasn’t pleased with the glare, took about 40 shots and the transparency was only how I wanted it on this one. Thanks again.

too much glare. Very provocative image - I'm sure you're getting a lot of comments!

Not getting what this has to do with school days... Is there some sort of hidden meaning? Otherwise good composition.

ok now im forced to ask how do you do double exposures on a digital. I'm Jealous only scorring low because I fail to see the relationship between the bible and school.

I'm desperately trying to put 2 and 2 together here but I just can't do it...A gun, a bible-related book and school days. Maybe this is representing that the bible and guns should be kept out of schools? If so, this photo is not effective in conveying that message...

I don't really understand the connection to the challenge. I'm not sure I understand the theme of this photo, actually. I realize there is a cultural statement being made but I'm not sure what it is. Guns and the Bible? How does this relate to school and education? If it were a Bible and a copy of Darwin, or a gun resting on some school books I would get it. This I don't get.

In terms of the quality of the photo---either you did some good trick work with a long exposure or the gun has an acrylic barrel? I can't tell because the transparency isn't quite ephemeral enough--the gun looks fairly solid. There are some very distracting highlights. Overall, this just doesn't work for me. Keep trying!

It's a good concept, but guns and school just don't sit right to me, misinterpereted or not.

IMO, a tenuous connection to the topic.
