I don't think this looks like something I would typically award, but this is the shot that surprised me the most. There's something strange about the flash lighting up a frame around the moon. And the subtle but powerful bird.

I'm giving this my blue ribbon.

I'm not experienced with night flash, so I am merely asking rather than critiquing, but is the flash too bright for this image? I like the idea and the composition. Just not sure about the flash.

Great lighting on the bird. Interesting scene, the brownish sky is not something I'm used to seeing but is pretty and makes the tree and bird pop.

Fine storybook-like illustration. The lighting carries the day, bringing the scene to fruition. Yet also, sorry, the vertical alignment of the heron and moon compel me to see the moon as, umm, a giant....
