From the Critique club
Good improvising and the warm son contrasted by the cold place does work well. You can almost imagine yourself wanting to stand in this light - but not familiar with this kind of conditions Im sure the sunshine is deceptive as even with this it can be very cold.
Comp looks good and nice lead in to image with enough interest on sides to bring eye back as well as clouds naturally bringing the eye down again.
Notes on processing I suppose is a personal thing and I cant say Im a big fan of this kind of processing where you loose allot of the natural feel of the beautiful setting. I note another comment also not liking the clouds but even lower down the whites in the water is so unnatural that you wonder if it's not some artificial plastic in it. i might have opted for a slightly warmer tone to this as it could help in the theme of the challenge.
Nice finish and many people hope to get a 6 in any challenge. |

In Michigan, in the winter, you need to "improvise" to indicate warmth in an outdoor photo. To me, it is the warmth of bright sunshine, which is definitely warm.... :)
"Description
I've heard it's warm in certain parts of the world. Let's see if that's true. If it's not warm near you though, you'll have to improvise." |

I second that, how this scored high beats me, I must be just plain stupid! It is a nice scene though but not for this challenge! |
Totally agree, it's the opposite of warmth in every aspect. Seems like an awfully high score for a clear DNMC. That being said, it is still a nice image, but just doesn't belong in the challenge. |

I like the grumpy-ish face on the back of the closest boat... good job overall, but I would have preferred to see the contrasts. |

It's Laketown from the Hobbit! That incoming foam looks scary. I think more shadows would benefit the lower part. |

I personally love the processing on the bottom half of this - not too fond of the effect on the clouds - I would love to know your processing steps here. This is painterly, artistic and creative. |
