Peter Lik style Image Description:
This shot has eluded me my entire life, I was glad to have finally been able to capture it. Because of the unreachable nature of this site, I rode in with my Nikon out, swinging from a rope at the bottom of a helicopter. I let go of the rope and began to spiral down toward the beach, while getting my camera ready on a tripod. I used two shoot through umbrellas to soften my landing. Just before I hit the ground I had readied my tripod, and pre-focused my lens. As soon as I landed, I rolled to the left under the Pier, I shot. And this was the result. All joking around aside, I'm a big Peter Lik fan. I visit his gallery in La Jolla, CA regularly and have also seen the one in Vegas. I love the printing medium, the way the pieces handle light, and the professional nature of his whole enterprise.

| Single 13 second exposure, first real shoot with my new Tokina 16-28mm f/2.8 FX PRO lens, and I love this lens. Shot this on a tripod, with a remote trigger. Also used my Nikon SB-700 to fire a touch of light out underneath the pier to balance with the long exposure of the sky, etc. |
