Wow the strong reflections from the plate in her eyes is awesome. It does not however overcome the sorrow I feel from this. We done in so may ways.

Good use of the plate as a reflector. I'm not crazy about the busy background, though.

Naturally I'm quite partial to emotive photojournalism from wars to famine, and this image has garnered a 7. Social commentary by photography is a powerful tool. I believe however the west has been desensitised to this type of image. The pleading "African" child. I know I am. I've witnessed it for over 30 years. From Nat Geo to CNN. The world is indeed a horrid place and the politicians running it into the ground should all trade places with her for a day, or a week. That doesn't mean one should stop highlighting cases of extreme poverty or natural disasters, even war. I hope that voters vote with their minds on this image and not their displeasure or uneasiness the sight gives them.

First I gave it an 8. Then I came back and gave it a 9. Finally, I felt so bad for that kid, I gave it a 10. This image just grabs my heart and won't let go.
