*Hello from Sid and the Critique Club*
A very appealing image that is assumed to meet the challenge.
I get the pleasure to comment again upon your lovely image. I love the feeling of desolation and bleak cold that you have conveyed here with the poor pony braving it all stoically. The mono tones are superb, the lovely dark skies, the texture of the pony's coat and the composition is perfect with the building in the background and the snows blowing in a misty sort of way throughout, it really is a very appealing image. I don't think there is anything at I would alter it all works very well together.
It is such an appealing image I am going to have to fave it! You did really well to get in the top ten in this highly competitive challenge, well done, its a real shame you don't seem to be active I hope you will return soon, Sid |

I didn't get to this one, but it would have been a 10. This is photography at its best. Congratulations on the top 10 finish. |

I can't stay here looking too long, I'm getting cold! I love that there is an open door on the barn up there that this horse could go use! |

This image has caused me to stop and pay attention. That means it is in my 7-10 voting band. (Voted earlier)
Additionally, it is highly interesting/eclectic meaning it keeps me here long enough to offer a longer comment and a vote of 8 or more.
This is one of my 10s (I just bumped it from a 9) - I like it very much. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:
1. Horse pictures normally leave me cold, but this one is special.
2. The extraordinary use of a deep depth of field. Inspired.
3. The mixed use of high and low contrast, from bottom left to top right.
4. The Icelandic feel!
5. The communication of a physical context - the image is placed in the world, and with that us too as the viewer.
6. That telegraph pole top right - it offers much in terms of offering scale and depth.
Overall, this is magnificent. |

You have really conveyed the cold and bleakness well, who'd be a poor cold pony? Lovely mono conversion, works well, a high score |

Wonderful control of the dark horse(?) against the snow. Love how the snow surrounds the eye and helps draw the eye towards his eye. Very well done. |
