 I've always enjoyed a game of chess and thought that it would be fun to shoot a checkmate position with the checked king in focus.

Overall it's well done and meets the challenge, though even where the focus obviously is there's some softness, maybe motion blur?
I spent a long time looking at it trying to figure out if it's really checkmate or not, it's been so long since I played chess.
