Hi Tome!
Actually I did. I work UNICOMs for air shows in California (so far) and this one was on the Catalina Island. I met Vicky Benzing and gave her this shot as a Windows Wallpaper. I also have many of the pilots and performers on my email photo list. Thank you for your appreciative comment. My favorite photo subject is aircraft, mostly helicopters and they present quite a challenge. Getting the rotors or propellers properly blurred means a shutter speed at about 1/80 so try a panning shot at that speed and see if you get an acceptable, sharp photo. My best made the MD Helicopters calender and the wall of the Fresno Co Sheriff's airborne division. But DPC'ers mostly vote my aircraft photos down and I find that frustrating. Like a fine wine and beer, it's an acquired taste, or an ingrained fascination with flight. And photography.
Avalon's show is unique that the airport launches the show aircraft, but the show is off shore outside the Avalon Bay 5 miles away where I can't see them, so I don't get the aerobatic performances like I do at the other shows, like Marysville.
BTW, my photos of this event are posted at //photo.sagerquist.net/UNICOM-AVX-Oct2014.html
and the other events are listed at //photo.sagerquist.net/UNICOMs.html

No better way to perform than with the Extra 300! Lovely shot, you could share this with the pilot :-). |

Love the colours and motion in this. Personally I'd like to have seen more of the pilot. |

Well composed and perfect shutter speed to capture the moving propeller in such a cool looking manner, but I'm not a fan of the added border. |
