CRITIQUE CLUB CRITIQUE

(hmmmm, didn't i just read a critique on my milk piture by you??? :-))
COMPOSITION
I think the composition of this is very strong. The eyes focus on the roses and then pull the eyes from them, up the stem and out of the frame. What would it look like, though, if it were flipped so that the eyes followed the stems into the frame. I don't think it would be necessarily better, just different. Very interesting choice of subjects --definitely sticks in my head.
TECHNIQUE
The lighting here is excellent. Except for one small spot near the white rose, it is not blown out, and the details show nicely. The focus also works for this. My only "complaint" would be that the red rose looks soggy. Did you pour the milk over, or sit the flowers down in the milk? IF you poured it, maybe you should have just sit them down in it and then sprinkled with milk. If you sat them there, I think you left it under the hot lights too long!!!
OVERALL EFFECT
I really liked this shot -- I thought it was creative and unique. The only detraction was mentioned above, and that was the soggy flower. Hope you didn't give these to you wife or anything!! (wink, wink)

| Not sure what this is saying about modern romance. That it gets drenched in milk? That people treat it like cereal? That in addition to giving roses for V-Day you should give dairy? |

| I really don't like this. I mean the roses in milk. The picture is well taken. The lighting on the white rose is a little harsh. Am I missing something here. I just don't get it. Good luck in the challenge. |

| The way the white rose blends into the milk is interesting, but the roses look a bit too soggy for my liking. I don't like the way the milk makes them droop and glisten in the light. Nice composition and lighting though. |

| Interesting idea. I have a problem with the milk, it is hard to rell it is there except for on the leaves and the red rose. A little too much white perhaps. |

| love your concept but I would try not to soak the roses in the milk and just lay on top to float instead. |

| Beautiful shot! I love the way the red stands out in this one. the only minor issue I see is that the front side of the white rose has lost a lot of detail in the lighting... great shot = 10 - setzler |

| Can't quite figure this one out. The texture of the red rose looks to be over sharpened. The rest appears to almost jump off the photo as being real, but show no signs of sharpening. Is that the normal texture of that particular rose? The rest of the photo looks like I can reach out and touch the flower. That's an awesome 10 for that. Just don't know about the red one. |

| Bothers me that the roses are so wilted..[dead]..the red one looks ran over and the white one is lost in the milk. I do like the focus, colors and composition. Good luck. |
