*Greetings from the Critique Club*
I was excited to see this image pop up as an image for me to critique. I remember this image coming up in voting and my brain just lit up. I really liked it, great shot of a wave.
Compositionally I think this image is nice. There are some nice leading lines that took my eye to the top of wave, and I think your placement of the wave at a diagonal in the lower right worked really well.
Technically I also think this shot is very good. There is a beautiful smoothness to the water, and the blues and greens are lovely. I think the amount of contrast works well, and I love that bit of green that looks almost like light shining through the water right below the top of the wave. Just lovely. Something I did notice was that the water near the upper right looked quite different from the water on the left side of the image. That upper right area almost looks more real, and has a sharper more in focus quality. Also, after looking at the upper right quadrant that green below the wave looks less real. If the green look was a result of processing, perhaps the color adjustments were a bit strong on parts of the image? Or maybe it's just that most of the image has quite an abstract feel to me, but that upper right quadrant looks a bit less abstract.
You certainly met the challenge, and your score is a solid score. There were number of voters who scored your image very highly and a small number who scored it poorly. I do not see any major issues with the image, in fact it was one of my favorites of the challenge. But I can guess that maybe the abstract aspects or maybe the mix of sharpness and softness was not universally loved.
But I still say nice entry.
