It looks like the lighting conditions got the best of you on this one. Hard to say if it would have been a good photo even with good light, but the noise and subsequent overt noise reduction would ruin anything.

The Photoshop filter doesn't do much to help here. It actually makes the pixel quality seem really bad, because I first saw the texture as color banding.
