In my opinion, you really needed to find a different viewpoint for this. The trees are just in the way, instead of being a strong compositional focus, and the subject matter of the title, (the supposed cottage), is hard to make out, lost in the clutter.
Also, it's overexposed. The lighting is nice and eerie.. but.. that's all you have, and it's just not enough.

Hard to make out what this is, maybe too dark?

doesnt really grab me, trying to make out the cottage. the wooden posts add some interest to it though

While this didn't do much for me at first glance, it grows on me. Still a bit "too" dark in the dark areas... Very little midrange between the bright spot and the black.

This looks a bit blurry---like it was taken without the benefit of a tripod. I don't see a lot to focus on. That dark blobby shape takes up an awful lot of the picture plane without any payoff in terms of interest. I don't really see a focal point here. Whatever it was about this scene that spoke to you hasn't really been communicated to me in this shot.

This is a good shot in that you have managed to capture the "cottage" without over-exposing the highlights too much. There is a wide range of contrast to this shot. I cant really make out the "cottage" you refer to in your image title though. I can only really make out a fence and a few trees, and something lit up in the background. For me to have voted this higher, I would have liked a clearer view of what your main subject was. Keep at it. Every shot makes you a better photographer if you learn from it!

It fits the challenge, but it's extremely difficult to tell what I'm looking at beyond what the title suggests. There's no good point of reference or focal point here, I'm afraid.
