I was the other photographer with dishes, though yours is definitely superior. I will go through life telling myself I would have ranked higher had you not been here for comparison.

Hee, well I was right about it being top 20... :-P Congratulations on the blue. I didn't get to finish voting, but this was like I said in my original comment the only shot that I saw where I had to stop and say 'ooo' or was it 'wow'. Anyways congrats on being my wallpaper of the moment!

Wow! My first blue ribbon! This is awesome.
This was a last minute idea, spotted some dish antenna's at a transmission station, went over to take some shots.
This was just a 30sec exposure on a very clear night...lot's of stars.
I'm shocked.

Oooo, very cool. I like this a lot. I think the composition is great, and the long exposure to get the stars makes a huge statement. The colors are very nice, and the darkening from bottom left to top right gives a good balance. Impactful.

I think the background constellation is Taurus. I see the pleides just above the right side of the dish, and the heyedes above the left center of the dish. Very nice.

This is so far the first shot to make me stop and say 'Wow'. Nicely exposed. Love the fact that yougot 5 of the seven sisters and Orions belt. Great gradiations of light in the dish itself. Only thing that detracts is the brighter area in the bottom left. Easily fixed in advanced editing. In basic editing, maybe croping that out (I know you lose part of the dish, but it may have made this a top 5 instead of top 20)...

Excellent coolness to this shot. The feel is clean and wistful. I would have zoomed out from the dish to give it room to breathe on the side and bottom of the photo, though not at the cost of the sky. Then again, I expect there might be limitations to composition outside of the frame I do not see. Well done. 8
