First, thank you for the nice comments.

The fun part of shooting this photo, or photography in general, is discovering a place that is less known to others. I walked to this popular location an hour before sunset and saw several photographers on location with their tripods set-up on the bridge, the most common location for shooting this view. I was scouting the location, and I saw the chicken wire fence laden with thorny bushes and trees in the park nearby. I thought that it would offer a better vantage point since I can get almost the entirety of the highway in the picture. I did not think about the vibration caused by trucks and buses, pointed out by caba, but he is right – 10 seconds is long enough to introduce vibration and blur from the vehicles passing by. I did not think about this while shooting, but I was determined to get to the bushes and to find my own secret spot.

I got to the bushes and was surprised to find out that somebody already made holes in the chicken wire fence where you can fit your camera and tripod perfectly - I found somebody else’s secret spot. The location provided a better perspective and less vibration since it is far from traffic. Later on, two other photographers joined me, and we were proud of the fact that we have a location with a better view and hidden from tourists and other photographers.

Disqualification Details
You may not use distortions to create new effects or radically alter objects. You took a crop of this view that would have looked like a wide panoramic shot (very skinny) and squished it horizontally a massive amount. Doing this, you radically altered the shapes of everything in the image, most noticeably making the buildings themselves seem much taller and skinnier than they are.

Shame about the dq, fair cop that it is. Interesting that such a massive distortion can still leave you with a realistic picture. Technique to use sometime when there aren't rules.

Congrats on the blue, I gave you a 10, you certainly deserved it. I didn't know where this was, I haven't seen Seattle from this vantage point in pictures before. It reminds me of OZ - the city on the hill. Or a castle on a hill - the individual skyscrapers making up the turrets of the castle. I've never seen to Seattle but it's on my list of places to visit.

The flowing lines of the highway leading up to an Emerald City lookalike make for a wonderful composition. I just wish you had balanced out all the reddish light in the bottom half. 9

The skyline has some kind of a modern fairytale appeal. The road looks like it goes to a distant castle on a hill.

Best in show award, congrats, even though I'm a bit biased in my home town, I know it tuff to get 10 seconds with out that bridge shaking from buses or trucks.

Great work...the whole setup of the picture is perfect! I'm jealous because I don't live close enough to a city to have this view.
