Formal Consideration:
You did very well utilizing the the technical possibilities that you did have. I am trying to figure out how you got this effect of the reflection.

Color and Tonal Balance:
This shot is a version of monochrom and the tonal range that you captured is in my oppinon perfect. It does enhance the photo very nicely. All important aspects are stressed nicely with correct tone.

Lighting, Exposure, and Contrast:
The lighting in this shot is perfect to acieve what you wanted to do. The sign itself is in my oppinion a tad bit washed out. To give the effect that you did most likely could not have been done without that amount of light. The reflection is very strong and that is what makes this photo very appealing in my oppinion. I believe in a round about way that the Light and exposure you used here enhaces the photo in a round about way. Great Job.

Composition and Camera Angle:

Other than the slight tilt of the sign, the image is framed ok. Personally I would have brought the moon closer to midline and the sign a little closer to the left edge. I think that would have been a little more eye appealing. I do however think this that the lines are very good causing the eye to start at the bottom of the page at the stem of the sign and work its way up to the sign, then the reflection and the moon. By the way your capture of the moon here is amazing.

Conclusion:
Ok. This is just a wierd sign. Makes you ask many questions. So it will keep a persons curiosity causing them to stay with the photo. I assume this is in a park somewhere. This sign is too unusual. I like this photo. Good Job.

nice moon, good exposure, my camera takes moons that are glowing blobs.

very good, i like the reflection...but where in the world is the speed limit 21 miles per hour?
01/24/2003 04:20:52 AM
the title makes no sense, sorry. the sign is clear, but is not level. i don't understand the reflection of the sign. the moon is cool

This picture has me intrigued. Why is the limit 21, and not a round number like 20?
I don't see how the title fits either. That said, it is a good image.

How....odd.
Very nice.

21? the little reflection above the sign is unusual. Like this was taken thru a window. Moon looks a little blown out. I don't think it should be all white, but it may have been necessary to overexpose the moon to properly expose the sign. (thinking while typing). Inspzil

21? isn't that an odd number for a speed limit?

Are you sure this isn't the drinking limit? hehehe... interesting effect you have here, it would be interesting to see how you did it. I didn't know any place had a speed limit of 21, but thats a little too slow for me :-) Oh well... hopefully I won't come across that road anytime soon... You did a very nice job of having the sign not too bright as well as the moon, nice job of using exposure... also I like your composition, the moon in the upper right hand corner is a nice touch. Good job, and good luck!

This is strangely interesting. I've never seen THAT number used as a speed, totally bizarre! Were you taking this through a car window? (upsidedown reflection thing) I like the moon with the con-trail running through it. 6 Swash

Oddly, this is overexposed a bit, causing the sign to look out of focus. I am looking for a cohesive theme, but am coming up short.

interesting technique...your sign is a bit crooked, though. i like the composition, with the moon.

was this taken through a window (and therefore the reflection of the sign above it). its a strange sign - speed limit 21, but unfortunately the technical weaknesses of the photo detract from the subject.

You've captured a reflection of the sign here (I assume in the car windshield). If you meant for the reflection I'm not sure that it adds anything. Also the sign is slightly off vertical, it may have been better to rotate the image a degree or two to the left and then cropping before submission.
